Australia has announced its playing XI for the first T20 International against Pakistan, with three players set to make their T20I debuts. Mahli Beardman, Jack Edwards, and Matthew Renshaw will feature in the series opener at Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore, scheduled to be played on Thursday.
Travis Head will lead the Australian side, as regular captain Mitchell Marsh has been rested after arriving in Pakistan less than 48 hours before the match. Josh Inglis and Marcus Stoinis are also unavailable for the opening game.
Three Debutants in Series Opener
Australia will field three debutants in the opening T20I. For Matthew Renshaw, this appearance marks a significant milestone, as he will become an all-format international, having already represented Australia in Tests and One-Day Internationals.
Jack Edwards earns his maiden T20I cap following an outstanding Big Bash League season with the Sydney Sixers, where he finished second in the competition’s wicket-taker standings with 19 wickets. The New South Wales captain previously announced himself with a List A century as an 18-year-old.
Fast bowler Mahli Beardman, just 20 years old, receives his first senior international opportunity after impressing during Australia’s Under-19 World Cup-winning campaign. Known for his express pace, Beardman consistently clocked speeds above 140 km/h and picked up 13 wickets for Perth Scorchers in the BBL.
