Dolphins beat South Western Districts by ten wickets under the D/L method at Kingsmead, finishing on 56/0 after the visitors made 51/4. Ottneil Baartman repeatedly broke up the visitors' innings before the Dolphins openers completed the revised chase with 25 balls remaining in the CSA T20 Challenge 2026.
Baartman keeps South Western Districts in check
Dolphins elected to bowl, and Yaseen Vallie struck 2 fours in his 8 from 8 balls before being caught by Grant Roelofsen off Baartman at 2.3 overs. Slade van Staden followed for a two-ball duck, caught by Hanu Viljoen later in the same over. At 10/2, South Western Districts had lost two batters without advancing the score between dismissals.
Pheko Moletsane briefly lifted the innings with 10 from 8 balls, including 2 fours, in a third-wicket partnership of 14 with Janneman Malan. Baartman ended that recovery at 24/3 in the fifth over, with Andile Simelane taking the catch. The visitors had begun to rebuild, but could not keep the stand intact.
Andile Phehlukwayo offered another burst of boundary scoring: all his 12 runs came in fours during an eight-ball stay. His partnership with Malan added 15 before Baartman struck again at 6.4 overs, this time through a catch by Romashan Pillay that left the innings at 39/4.
Malan stayed through to the close, finishing unbeaten on 16 from 19 balls. Leo Sadler contributed 2 not out from 3 deliveries as their unbroken fifth-wicket stand added 12, but the earlier interruptions had limited the innings' progress. Baartman finished with 4/12 from 3 overs; none of the other Dolphins bowlers took a wicket. Okuhle Cele conceded 13 from his 2 overs, while Prenelan Subrayen's single over cost 7.
Parsons and Roelofsen make the revised chase brief
Dolphins were set 56 from 8 overs under the revised calculation. South Western Districts needed breakthroughs to make that target difficult, but neither opener was dismissed and both supplied boundaries rather than leaving the scoring to one partner.
Bryce Parsons led with 32 not out from 13 balls, striking 5 fours and a six. Roelofsen complemented him with an unbeaten 17 from 10 deliveries, including 2 sixes. Their contrasting boundary returns gave the visitors no respite at either end.
Zack Momberg's only over cost 21, making it the most expensive of the chase. Liam Alder conceded 9 from his over, while Sadler gave up 10 and Nhlakanipho Mpungose conceded 12 from 5 balls. None could provide the wicket that might have interrupted the opening pair.
Dolphins also received 7 extras, including 4 leg-byes. The opening stand remained intact to the finish in 3.5 overs, ensuring Baartman's work was followed by an equally decisive batting response.
