Twin centuries and a recovery from early wickets carried India W to a 121-run victory over Zimbabwe W in the second ODI at Kotambi Stadium in Vadodara. India made 328/6 from 50 overs before dismissing Zimbabwe for 207 in 48.5 overs.
Kaur and Deepti rebuild after India's early losses
India elected to bat, but Nomvelo Sibanda quickly disrupted their start. Smriti Mandhana was caught by Loryn Phiri without scoring in the opening over, and Shafali Verma followed for 8, caught by Nyasha Gwanzura. At 19/2 in the third over, India needed a substantial repair before they could build towards a competitive total.
The recovery centred on Harmanpreet Kaur's 126 from 121 balls, beginning with a third-wicket partnership of 124 alongside Pratika Rawal. Rawal made 61 from 67 balls, including four fours and two sixes, giving India a second significant contribution while Kaur established the innings. Their stand ended at 143/3 in the 23rd over when Rawal was caught by Beloved Biza off Gwanzura.
Zimbabwe briefly reopened the innings. Tejal Hasabnis made only 3 before falling to Olinda Chare, leaving India 148/4 in the following over. Although the initial recovery had restored the total, those two dismissals meant India still needed another substantial partnership to make full use of their remaining overs.
Deepti Sharma's unbeaten 106 from 86 balls supplied it. She and Kaur added 153 for the fifth wicket, carrying India beyond 300 and making the middle order decisive after the early losses. Both struck 15 fours, with Deepti compiling her century from fewer deliveries and remaining available to guide the closing stages.
Kaur's innings ended at 301/5 in the 47th over, caught off Michelle Mavunga. Tendai Makusha subsequently removed Richa Ghosh for 7, but Zimbabwe could not dislodge Deepti. An unbroken seventh-wicket partnership of 19 with Sayali Satghare completed India's innings, leaving the visitors to chase a total built principally through two century stands.
Vaishnavi breaks Zimbabwe's resistance
Zimbabwe's reply began with a 38-run opening partnership before Shree Charani had Phiri caught by Verma for 6. Modester Mupachikwa then joined Chipo Mugeri-Tiripano in a second-wicket stand of 69, providing the most substantial resistance of the chase. Their partnership kept wickets in hand, but Zimbabwe still had a considerable distance to travel when it ended.
Mugeri-Tiripano made 46 from 57 balls, including seven fours, before Satghare bowled her at 107/2 in the 23rd over. Mupachikwa remained until the 28th, when substitute fielder Harleen Deol caught her off Vaishnavi Sharma. Her 49 from 70 balls, containing nine fours, was Zimbabwe's highest score; neither of their two leading contributors reached a half-century.
Vaishnavi Sharma finished with 4/39, breaking up the middle order after that initial breakthrough. Beloved Biza and Josephine Nkomo added 34 for the fourth wicket, but Vaishnavi trapped Biza lbw for 34, bowled Mavunga for 3 and then dismissed Nkomo lbw for 22. Zimbabwe were 179/6, with their established batters gone.
Deepti then removed Gwanzura for 20 and Sibanda on consecutive deliveries, leaving Zimbabwe 198/8. She later dismissed Makusha to complete figures of 3/32, adding a substantial bowling contribution to her century. Jintimani Kalita ended the innings when Chiedza Dhururu was caught by Deol for 12.
The victory secured the Zimbabwe W tour of India W 2026 for India, who led the three-match series 2–0 with one match remaining.
