Botha anchors Rocks as Adams supplies late impetus

Having chosen to bat, Rocks built an opening stand of 35 through Blayde Capell and Gavin Kaplan. Capell struck four boundaries in his 23 from 15 balls before Wesley Bedja caught him off his own bowling. Neil Brand then fell bowled to Beuran Hendricks for 3, leaving Rocks 44/2 in the sixth over.

Kaplan contributed 26 from 23 balls, but his stumping by Tristan Stubbs off Thomas Kaber brought a further interruption at 63/3. Rocks needed an innings of substance rather than another brief contribution, and Lehan Botha, with 50 from 47 balls, provided it.

Botha and Jhedli Van Briesies added 37 for the fourth wicket, keeping the innings intact without breaking free. Van Briesies made 9 from 16 deliveries before falling to Senuran Muthusamy at the end of the 16th over. Muthusamy's 1/17 from four overs was central to restricting Rocks' scoring.

Adams brought the acceleration the innings had lacked. His unbeaten 22 from 12 balls included a four and two sixes, and his fifth-wicket partnership with Botha was worth 34. Botha, whose only boundaries were two sixes, was caught by Jordan Hermann off Hendricks at the start of the final over. Hendricks finished with 2/27, while Adams remained to ensure Rocks had something to defend.

Warriors recover, but Williams settles the eliminator

Warriors also lost two early wickets. Hermann was caught off Glenton Stuurman for 2, and Sibonelo Makhanya's 18 from 11 balls ended against Williams with the score 33/2.

Muthusamy and Tristan Stubbs then gave the chase its strongest platform through a third-wicket stand of 57. Their recovery lasted until Muthusamy was caught off Adams for 25 from 30 balls. Brand trapped JP King lbw for a duck soon afterwards, changing a position of relative stability into 91/4.

Stubbs remained the key to the chase, but Williams removed him for 40 from 40 balls at 107/5 in the 17th over. Williams returned 2/22 from four overs; Adams' two overs cost just 6 and brought the important breakthrough that had disrupted the recovery.

Andile Mokgakane revived Warriors with 19 from nine balls, including two sixes, in a stand of 22 with Patrick Kruger. His run-out at 129 was followed by Kruger's dismissal for 12, leaving Thomas Kaber and Hendricks to add an unbroken 7. They drew the scores level but could not take Warriors beyond a tie.

The eliminator was much more one-sided. Williams took 2/2 in four balls, dismissing Hermann and Kruger, both caught by substitute Nathan Jacobs, to end Warriors' effort at 2/2. Adams then hit Kerwin Mungroo's first delivery for four, taking Rocks to 4/0 and securing the result.
