Warriors beat Western Province by four wickets with 21 balls remaining, reaching 133/6 after restricting their opponents to 130/8 at Al Amerat Cricket Ground Oman Cricket (Ministry Turf 1). Early wickets gave Warriors control of this CSA T20 Challenge 2026 encounter, though they needed an unbeaten seventh-wicket stand to withstand a five-wicket response: full scorecard.

Smith rebuilds after Province's early losses

Warriors' decision to bowl brought immediate rewards. Kerwin Mungroo removed Kashief Joseph for 1, before Beuran Hendricks dismissed Joshua van Heerden for 3 and Jiveshan Pillay for 5. All three were caught by Matthew De Villiers, and Province were 16/3 when Pillay departed in the sixth over.

Valentine Kitime offered little relief, making 3 from 10 balls before falling to Wesley Bedja at 35/4. With the top order largely gone, Province needed a sustained partnership rather than another brief contribution.

Daniel Smith made 67 from 49 balls, striking eight fours and a six. His fifth-wicket partnership of 60 with Oliver Whitehead gave the innings its substance, carrying Province to 95 before Whitehead was caught off Andile Mokgakane for 16 in the 16th over.

Smith then added 22 with George Linde, but Bedja ended his innings with a catch by Tristan Stubbs at 117/6. Linde, who contributed 17 from 11 balls, was run out later in the same over. Raeeq Daniels also fell to a run-out before Mihlali Mpongwana and Josh Breed added an unbroken 9.

Hendricks finished with 2/16 from four overs and Bedja with 2/19 from four. Their wickets at either end of Smith's recovery ensured that his innings did not develop into a more demanding total.

Whitehead strikes, but King sees Warriors home

Warriors lost Sibonelo Makhanya for 4 in the opening over, caught off Daniels, but Jordan Hermann and De Villiers added 33 for the second wicket. Hermann's 25 from 15 balls included three fours and a six before Whitehead bowled him at 47/2.

Whitehead kept interrupting the chase. He had Stubbs caught for 6, then removed De Villiers for 28 from 22 balls, leaving Warriors 76/4 in the ninth over. Those wickets prevented the early scoring from becoming a straightforward finish.

JP King finished unbeaten on 32 from 25 balls, first adding 27 with Patrick Kruger. Whitehead broke that stand by having Kruger caught for 13, then trapped Mokgakane lbw with the next delivery. Warriors were suddenly 103/6 after 12.4 overs, and Whitehead's 5/26 had given Province another opening.

King and Thomas Kaber allowed no further breakthrough. Their unbroken partnership of 30 settled the chase, with Kaber contributing 14 not out from 12 balls, including a four and a six. Province's repeated wicket-taking threat had come almost entirely from Whitehead; once King and Kaber held together, Warriors completed the pursuit in 16.3 overs.
