Construction and Early Years

Wankhede Stadium was established in 1974 and named after Barrister Sheshrao Krishnarao Wankhede, who was then president of the Bombay Cricket Association. The ground was built near Churchgate in South Mumbai and opened in time to host its first Test match in the 1974–75 season, when India played the West Indies.

The stadium is scheduled to host multiple matches, including group-stage games and at least one semi-final, further highlighting its importance in major international cricket events.

It is set to host six matches during the tournament, including fixtures featuring teams such as India, Nepal, England, West Indies, Scotland and others.
