Scotland Cricket Team History
Scotland has spent its modern history as one of the strongest associate nations, capable of beating Full Members on its day. A one-day international win over England in Edinburgh in 2018 and a qualifying victory over the West Indies in 2023 that helped keep the two-time champions out of a World Cup are the results that define the Saltires.

Beating England in Edinburgh, 2018
On 10 June 2018 at The Grange in Edinburgh, Scotland beat England — then the top-ranked ODI side in the world — by six runs. Scotland posted 371/5, with Calum MacLeod scoring 140 not out, and held on as England fell nine short in a remarkable run chase.
It remains the most celebrated result in Scottish cricket, and came only months after Scotland had narrowly missed qualification for the 2019 World Cup on a contentious rain-affected decision against the West Indies.
World Cups and the 2021 T20 Campaign
Scotland has appeared at three 50-over World Cups, in 1999, 2007 and 2015. Its best individual performance came in 2015, when captain Kyle Coetzer scored 156 against Bangladesh in Nelson, at the time the highest score by an associate player at a World Cup.
Scotland's finest tournament came at the 2021 T20 World Cup, where it won all three first-round matches — beating Bangladesh, Papua New Guinea and Oman — to reach the Super 12 stage as group winners.
In the 2023 World Cup Qualifier in Zimbabwe, Scotland beat the West Indies, a result that contributed to the two-time champions failing to qualify for the World Cup for the first time.
